Lyrics

I see the mirror looking back at me
An aging version of who used to be
Though I've seen him many times before
It wasn't quite like this, he never seemed so sure
For as the years have rolled away
They've left this person standing here today
Older and wiser, gracious and thankful
For the changes in my life

And as I gaze back through my memories
I see the little boy I used to be
Armed with shield and sword I'd run and play
And in the wheat fields we would fight to save the day
Oh how I wish I could be there
A place of innocence where problems disappeared
And that childlike outlook was yet unaffected
By the changes in my life

It's like I blinked my eyes
And half my life went by
Next thing I knew I was old before my time
My childhood swept away
And through a teenage haze
Somehow I became the man I'm seeing here
A consequence of all those years

And as I watch my children grow away
I think about the path that brought us here today
And sure as every day the sun will rise
I know that someday I'll forever close my eyes
So I'll make every moment last
Because our memories are all we really have
That's why I'll remember to always be thankful
For the changes in my life
All those changes in my life
